Carmel Bristol - Vision

VISION 2008 – ‘INVADING THE DARKNESS ESTABLISHING THE LIGHT’

In March 1997 God revealed a 20 year, 4 phase vision for growing His Kingdom, locally and internationally, through carmel: christian centre. In keeping with Habakkuk 2:2 and 3, this is written and referred to annually to monitor progress. As God unfolds His strategy to make the vision become reality, new goals are set and God releases the gifting to get the job done

2007 marked the 11th anniversary of carmel: Remaining obedient to the further establishment of God's kingdom, the focus was 'Multiply to occupy'. Gifting was released to function and to influence positively the leaders of Bristol for Christ's cause. Significant growth was experienced as carmel: continued to increase not only as a local body of believers but in provision of facilities to the public, in influencing and interacting locally, nationally and internationally.

THE FIRSTS OF 2007

>> carmel: music produced its first children's album

>> café carmel: opened in Knowle West

>> 'Young at Heart' – regular fellowship meetings for the elderly

>> carmel: hosted a Christmas lunch to encourage and bless leaders in the community

2008 'Invading the darkness, establishing the light' is the God-given mandate for 2008 for the continued outworking of the long-term vision. It's about bringing the light of Christ to illuminate the dark world so more people experience the reality of Jesus' words - 'I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life.' John 8:12.

To do this we must step beyond the paradigms of how church should be, think outside the box to find meaningful ways to reach people searching for truth. It's about taking the church into the community, by living, being and demonstrating the church, a committed, compassionate and courageous church which is living the dream of changing generations and leaving a priceless legacy.

We will continue to build on foundations already laid in fulfilling what we are called to do - ‘…to preach the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.’ Luke 9:2. Through evangelism, discipleship and pastoral care to benefit the community, God’s presence and power will be demonstrated both Inside and beyond the walls of the church building. We will indeed be 'Invading the darkness and establishing the light '.

'The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light. Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined.' Isaiah 9:2.
